Forest Schools
We are fortunate to have a very own Forest Schools leader, Christina Plant who leads Forest School activities at Garway School. Each class is timetabled for a weekly session of Forest Schools activities for at least one term in the school year.
The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals through outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment. Experiences include activities such as mud play, den building, fire lighting, woodcraft, campfire cooking and environmental art. These experiences provide opportunities to learn about yourself, others and the world around you. They will also enable learners to develop skills in approaching problems that are lifelong skills, such as:
- Tool use and fire Lighting
- Benefit risk process
- Safety and Shelter.Forest School progression - whole school Jan 24
